Following on from Portsmouth a 13m tail has been prepared and a test flight may take place on Blackheath 28th September 2025.

The tail was sewn and then cut on the bench with a friction feed via a Peter Malinski kite!

The tail was wound on a dowel in the JMH pattern and attached to the trailing edge of the kite.

The wind was light, about 4mph but the kite did fly hand held, with just a little walking and line letting.

Having flown the 1987 Flare Stack first the 1986 Flare was flown with a test tail attached to the fitting point that Jørgen had set in the trailing edge of the sail.

When the kite had been flown previously it had felt somewhat unruly but with the tail in place it flew sedately.

The plan was to try the 1988 Flare with a tail as well.
