Monday 8th December.

The sails have been washed and hung out to dry. This may be a first for me and the kites but given the nature of the project it will be better to be handling clean fabric.

The current condition of the leading edges are plain to see.

Restoring this set of eight sails from 2009 is the first step. All being well the 2015 set will follow in due course.

Thursday 11th December.

I had planned on laying an adhesive film before lowering the assembly into place and this worked very well. Washing the sails beforehand probably helped getting the adhesive to 'stick'!

The process took about two hours excluding reassembly of the bridle and spars.

It was not an arduous process and I will set about doing a second sail today hoping for a flight on Sunday 14th December.

This bridle does have some worn areas so needs further attention or replacing. The kite sails are 16 years old so the original construction by Bazzer has proved to be 'very good'!

Fourth sail, slight re-working required.

Re-worked so sewing completed on the fourth sail, Saturday 13th December.

Flight on Blackheath Sunday 14th December.

The sun managed to appear through the low cloud occasionally.

The kites performed very well and were mostly silent, no fabric flutter.

I'll hope to complete the other four sails during the next week.
