After Cervia 2026 I realised that the documentation for the re-framing of Four Diamonds was 'missing'! It did not take long to find images from February and March 2025 which indicated what had happened and how preparations for Cervia 2025 had probably taken priority!
The yellow fibreglass was seriously degraded. The end plugs had helped to keep the rods from collapsing. I had contemplated reaming end caps for a different size of rod but eventually went with the narrower diameter Exel rod which was externally ferruled in addition to an internal plug.
This all seems to have taken time and so the following images are dated even if it is not completely clear as to the progress being made.
10th February 2025.
Six connector tubes and 10 outer ferrules prepared.
12th February 2025.
13th February 2025.
Extension sets prepared.
13th February 2025.
At Cervia 2026 it was found that the yellow fibreglass outer ferrules were not strong enough and were breaking up under pressure when setting the end caps.
14th February 2025.
Inner plugs cut.
They were shaped and consolidated with adhesive after Cervia 2026 but may need to be replaced.
15th February 2025.
Outer ferrules being set.
21st February 2025.
27th February 2025.
Colour matches applied.
4th March 2025.
This was clearly a final fit of the frame. The kite was eventually flown at Cervia 2026.
14th May 2026.
End cap ferrules consolidated.
